Obituary for Karen A. Vieth

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Karen Ann Vieth on May 3, 2024. Karen was a remarkable woman -- a beacon of light and love to all who knew her -- and she will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

Born on December 6, 1953, Karen was a beacon of kindness, generosity and love throughout her 70 years of life. Karen grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois, graduated from Wilmington University, and had a successful career at Procter & Gamble (P&G), IBM, and FCN Bank. She was an avid gardener, and like her mother, had a magical green-thumb that seemed able to make anything grow. She was a phenomenal cook and a talented baker, and carried on and shared the traditions of the Slavic foods that she had grown up with, most notably at the holidays. More than anything, Karen loved her family and friends, and eagerly served as the central planner for the various reunions and parties that would bring them all together. Karen will be remembered by all who knew her as the life of any party -- a loving woman who made everyone feel comfortable and was quick with a laugh and a smile.

Karen is survived by her beloved family, her husband, Randy, her son, Jason (Heather), and her daughter, Andrea. She also leaves behind seven adoring grandchildren and a large extended family and group of friends that loved her dearly. All are left with the valuable lessons of love and kindness that Karen imparted on them, and all the precious memories that they made together.

In celebration of Karen's life, a private memorial will be held for family and friends at a later date that will be shared soon.
