Trefzger, Lydia Dorothea (nee Schaljo) was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1929. She went to school in Windsor, Canada where she took dance and ballet. Lydia played the piano, organ and guitar and could also speak French and German. She loved to ice skate and toured with the Ice Cycles for 3 years. She enjoyed crafting and had set up a pottery studio where she mixed and fired her own clay and glazes. Always working with her hands she created many collages, photo albums and macrame' pieces. In 1950 she married her beloved husband of 71 years the late Jerry Trefzger. She had four loving children Jan (late Gene) Whitaker, Joan (Ole) Olsen, Dave (Diana) Trefzger and Teresa (John) Mistler who were all born in Walnut Hills until moving to Westwood in 1961. Lydia learned to read EKG's and later managed the office of an Internist. She was a faithful Catholic and prayed with the Charismatic renewal. She studied with the Lay Pastoral ministry and became an accredited Catholic Chaplain. After retiring she enjoyed traveling, sight seeing, square dancing and particularly round dancing. When she could no longer dance she enjoyed playing bridge. She passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 17, 2023, Age 94. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by parents Albert B. and Adelheidt D. (Kinn) Schaljo, brother Albert (Mabel "Jo") Schaljo, son in law Gene Whitaker, Nash and great grandchild Leah. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass 10:30am, Tuesday June 27th at St. Catharine of Siena Church, Westwood.
