Obituary for William "Bill" Rieth

William (Billy) Rieth was born in Parma, Ohio on January 22nd, 1963. He fell in love with hockey at a young age and held that passion close his whole life. In 1984, Bill married the love of his life, Mary Beth (Stauffer). Together they shared the adventure of raising four beautiful children, Jacob, Nathan, Zachary, and Katelyn. In 2005, Bill became the Head Coach of the new Elder High School Hockey Program, continuing to coach until 2010. He had a strong competitive spirit that he passed on to his players and children. In his free time, he could be found reading, hiking, fishing, golfing, enjoying family dinners on Sundays, and boating and floating on Cave Run Lake with his wife.

Bill passed away suddenly early morning on Thursday, July 28th. He was beloved by so many for his fun-loving and welcoming personality. Bill was a role model in the community as a father, husband, coach, and friend. He is celebrated and survived by his loving wife of almost 38 years, Mary Beth, his children, Jacob, Nathan, Zachary, and Katelyn, daughter-in-law Caroline (Walsh), and his grandson Salem, whom he adored. He is also survived by his Father, Harvey Rieth (late Gail Gilmore), brothers Doug and Greg, sister Cheryl Horning (late Bob Horning), and beloved niece and nephews. Bill leaves behind some amazing friends that will surely miss his humor and kindness.
