Dan Sucher passed away on May 5, 2022 at the age of 69, in his hometown, Cincinnati, Ohio. He battled pancreatic cancer and gave it hell as he fought through relentless rounds of treatment. Through all the ups and downs of his diagnosis, the love for his family was unwavering.
He met the love of his life, Sue Sucher (nee Walsh) through an introduction from friends. Married for 46 years, the two shared a love of cruising, German festivals, and all things Christmas. Together, they had four children: Erin, Andy, Chris (Michelle) and Jeff (Sara) Sucher. His grandkids—Colleen, Allie, and Zack Sucher (Jeff and Sara) and Cameron Sucher (Chris and Michelle)—brought him so much joy; he loved being their grandpa. He built toys (sometimes unsuccessfully) to surprise them on Christmas, cheered them on at their youth sports, and just recently, taught his 8-month-old grandson how to stick out his tongue.
As a kid, Dan loved being active, playing any type of sport, and hanging out with the “the boys from ‘Res’ (Resurrection).” He leaves behind his dear brother, Brother Tim Sucher O.F.M. Through the years, he volunteered countless hours to St. Theresa of the Little Flower and the Cincinnati Donauschwaben Society. The highlight of Dan’s day/week was breakfast— whether meeting up with his buddies or Sunday brunch with his family. He instilled a sense of humility, hard work, and persistence to those around him.
Family will receive friends Friday, May 13, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. until time of memorial mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Seraph Church, 1615 Vine St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the University of Cincinnati Pancreatic Research or Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263.
