Obituary for Joyce A. Guenthner

Joyce A. Guenthner (nee Neumann) died at Little Sisters of the Poor St Paul’s Home on February 16,2022 at age of 91 years.
A lifelong resident of Bridgetown, Joyce was known for her service to others and deep faith. Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.
The Mother of Mercy High School graduate received a BS in Chemistry from the Mount St Joseph College in 1952. She was employed as a chemist at Clopay Corporation and the Quartermaster Army Corp of Engineer. At the request of her pastor, Joyce began a career in education, teaching at St Jude Elementary school, and retired from the Archdioceses of Cincinnati.
She was an avid fisherman and bridge player. She was a member of Our Lady of Visitation parish and the Mack Lady’s Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Dr George T Guenthner and her parents Laura (Leitner) Neumann and Jacob Neumann. She is the loving mother of Dr. Paul Guenthner (Sharon) of Villa Hills KY, Mary Short (Randall) of Indianapolis and Cathy Guenthner of Cincinnati; grandmother of, Megan Lawrenz (Sean), Jenny Short (Kenny Chmielewski), Erin Short (Lyle Henning), Jacob Guenthner (Elisa) and Gabriela Guenthner, and great-grandmother to four little ones. Dear sister of Elaine Grace (nee Neumann). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at Our Lady of Visitation Church, 3172 South Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45248 on Saturday, February 26, 2022. The Rite of Committal and burial of cremains will be at St Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Cemetery, 4390 Bridgetown Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45211, immediately following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, Mercy McAuley High School, Mount Saint Joseph University or a charity of your choice. Please indicate: in memory of Joyce Guenthner.
