Trefzger, Herbert Jerome, always known as "Jerry". Born in Maywood, IL in 1926. Moved with his parents to Cincinnati at the age of 2. Jerry attended Holy Name Grade School and then Roger Bacon High School. He served 26 months in the Navy from 1944-1946. While in the service he studied at Bethany, Franklin and Marshal Colleges and the University of Pennsylvania. After discharge he enrolled at the University of Cincinnati receiving his B.S. in Architecture in 1950. He and Lydia Schaljo were married shortly after his graduation in 1950. While at U.C. Jerry started a sales agency. He worked at Trefzgers, Inc. until he retired in 1988. Jerry was active in the Secular Franciscan Order and was involved in the charismatic renewal. He greatly enjoyed vacations seeing the USA with his family and later international travel with Lydia. He always enjoyed being outdoors, bird watching and later enjoyed photographing birds. After retirement, Jerry and Lydia learned to square dance and quickly moved into round dancing. The round dancing led them to winter vacations in Mesa, AZ where the vacations became longer until they were 5 months each winter in Mesa. The danced as long as they could and then began to enjoy playing bridge. Jerry also became interested in family genealogy after he retired and has spent much time creating private family web pages on web sites: Trefzgers.info and BergerHill.info. Jerry was beloved husband for 71 years of Lydia Trefzger (nee Schaljo). Loving father of Jan (Gene) Whitaker, Joan (Ole) Olsen, Dave (Diana) Trefzger and Teresa (John) Mistler. Dear brother of Paul Trefzger. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by parents Herbert B. and Bertha (Heinzman) Trefzger and brother Jim (Judy) Trefzger, son in law Nash and great grandchild Leah. Passed peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 1, 2022, Age 95. Funeral Mass 10:30am Friday June 24th at St. Catharine of Siena Church, Westwood.
