Obituary for William E. "Bill" Henke

Henke, William “Bill” – Beloved husband for 55 years of Dorothy “Dot” Henke, father of Shelly (Kevin) Kahny and Lynn Henke. Grandfather of Drew, Emma, and Jenna Kahny and Bex and Katie Wooddell. Brother of Frieda Jeannet and Vernon (Kathy) Henke and the late Carol Perkins, Carl (Joann - living), and Fred Henke. Brother in law to Bob (Natalie) and the late Rosemary Hauck. Son of the late Carl and Mabel, and son-in-law of the late Robert and Dorothy Hauck. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dear friend of Jim and Diane Newport and the late Sherm and Debbie (living) Henderson.
Bill was an avid outdoors man, who loved camping and fishing with his family. When in good health, he loved to travel, play with the St. Teresa Old timers, bowl, and golf. He was happy to retire in 2000 from the City of Cincinnati Traffic Services Division after 35 years so he could watch his grandchildren flourish in their many activities. Always with a smile on his face, willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. A friend to everyone he met, never judging, and always respectful. Bill joined the Catholic Church at the age of 70, with the blessings of his Godparents, Jack and Claire Kahny.
After struggling and surviving many years with cancer, called a Miracle Man for everything he overcame, Bill died peacefully at his home April 5, 2021 at the age of 74.
Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave., (Westwood), Thursday, April 8th 5-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Victory Church (808 Neeb Rd) Friday, April 9th at 11:30 am. Bill will be cremated, and as a proud veteran of the United States Navy, Bill will be laid to rest with full military honors.
