Powell, Robert S. Jr (11/13/1935 - 11/14/2020)
Devoted husband of Lois Powell (nee Borgman) of 62 years, beloved Father of Mike (Judy) Powell, Mark (Pam) Powell, Doug (Karen) Powell, and Melissa (Mike) Helmes, cherished Grandpa of 10 and Great Grandpa of 8.
Bob passed away on Friday, Nov 14, 2020, one day after his 85th birthday. He was a graduate of Elder High School (’54) and Xavier University (’58). He married Lois Jeanne Borgman on June 14th, 1958 and served our country for 4 years as an Army helicopter pilot. Bob & Lois had four children and were life-long members of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church in Bridgetown. Bob had a long successful career as the owner of his CPA firm which was located on Glenway Ave and was highly respected for his honesty and integrity by the many people who knew him

Organizations which Bob was involved in over the years include the Cincinnati chapter of the Friendly Sons of St Patrick (longtime board member, treasurer and past president), Harrison Social Flights (treasurer), and Clovernook Country Club (past president).

Bob loved having the family together as it was his highest priority and love. He will always be remembered as a true gentleman, gracious and kind, with a hearty laugh and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a funeral service for immediate family only will be held at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church. A life celebration for all family and friends will be held in the future, though details are undetermined at this point.

Condolences can be sent to the Powell Family at Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Online condolences can be made online at

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Bob’s name and sent to: St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, 4366 Bridgetown Rd, Cincinnati OH 45211. Online donations can be made at

To the ENTIRE Powell Family,

No words can truly express how sorry I am for your loss. You have been in my prayers and I am grateful to have shared so many "family" moments with all of you. I appreciate that I got to know what a great (and pretty funny too) guy Bob Powell was. He always treated me so kindly.

Mike, Doug and family- your dad will be missed especially on Mondays in the summer. I'm glad I got to see and talk to him on the last night of golf this year. I always liked talking with him about when he coached my knothole team at St Al's. Hi stories and his kindness will surely be missed. God bless

Mike and Family - Your dad was a good, kind and caring man, always with a smile on his face. I never heard an unkind word from Bob. I know you will miss him greatly. Time will help to heal the loss you are feeling now and then you will be left with a lifetime of memories which will fill your hearts. Bob will be missed on our Monday summer nights. God bless you all.

Tears with breakfast this morning as I read Bob's death notice. His life was blessed with loving family and friends. Always enjoyed being with Lois and Bob and Bob's sense of humor and always so gracious. I will always remember packing one car with ours and their Florida stuff. Bob you were right our medicine bags took up more room than any of our other bags. Lois, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love from Karen and Ed Menkhaus

Diane and I were sad to learn of Bob's passing. He was a wonderful friend and a caring person. He and Lois added so much to our experience and enjoyment of Clovernook. As everyone whom I talked to about Bob in past few days has remarked "Bob was a nice man". He was indeed, and he will be missed. I last saw him this summer as I was coming off the 18th green and he and Lois were on the patio. When I went up to say Hello, as always, he greeted me with a smile. Yes, he was a nice man! Rest in peace Bob!
