Over many years and several different companies, I've had the pleasure of working with Don. From the first day you met him he was an old friend. I will dearly miss his ready smile and infectious laugh. My sincere condolences to his family and friends, he was truly a one of a kind character.

It was very interesting watching Donnie grow up across the street. A lot of kids were raised on Mignon Avenue and they all were raised good. Donnie was on top of it. He always had a smile on his face and had some comment to make about what was going on. He knew what he wanted and went for it. And then he got married. How was he so lucky to meet Helen, the perfect wife for him. Don was always lucky; I think he made his own luck. And then they had Toebben. I think it must have been Don's happiest moment to see Toebben graduate from Pharmacy School. Don, you've had it all--a successful business, a fun life, a good marriage, and a wonderful son. I think you were ready for the Lord. Here goes your luck again, lucky to die on Our Blessed Mother's Feast Day. I don't think that was luck; I think Our Blessed Mother had something to do with that. Let me quote from my prayer book - "Mary's Assumption shows us our own destiny as God's adoptive children and members of the body of Christ. Like Mary our Mother, we are called to share fully in the Lord's victory over sin and death, and to reign with Him in his eternal Kingdom. (Our Pope Francis) Death is swallowed up in victory. Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death is your sting? The sting of death is sin. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Cor. 15:54b-57) My heart is sad. My heart is heavy. I will remember Don always on August 15. JoAnn and Lou Doerr & Family
