McCarthy, Ann C. (nee Stark), beloved wife for 53 years of Charles Eugene McCarthy. Loving mother of Michael E. McCarthy, Julie Ann McCarthy and Marie (Joseph) Martinelli. Devoted grandmother of Kelly Ann McCarthy-Mellett, Roman and Lorenza Martinelli. Dear sister of Thomas (Marilyn) Stark and the late John (Jane) Stark, Jr. Ann passed away on Sunday, March 24 age 78 years. Visitation Thursday, March 28th from 6-8 pm at the Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave. (Westwood). Funeral Mass Friday, 10:30 am at St. Catharine Church (Westwood). Burial services will be held Saturday at 11am at St. Margaret Cemetery in Chillicothe, Ohio. Ann C. McCarthy (nee Stark) (1940-2019). Ann was a woman of “manys."
She was many things- wife of 53 years to Dr. Charles Eugene (Gene) McCarthy. Mother of three. Grandmother of three. Sister to two brothers. Alumna of Our Lady of Angels High School (58), University of Dayton (BS, 62), and Xavier University (Masters, 66).
She did many things- Teacher. Guidance counselor. Member of the board of two Foundations- Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Academy of Medicine. Counselor at the Pregnancy Center West.
She enjoyed many things- Singing. Bowling. Started soccer at age 40. Took up cross-country skiing at age 50. Took exercise classes in her 70s (and continued doing so for three years after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s). And absolutely loved traveling.
And she will be missed by many. Her family. Her friends. Colleagues. Students. Those who saw her always on the go. Those who were warmed by her contagious smile. Those who were inspired by her journey.
She was loved by many, and will be missed.
