Rudolf "Rudy" Bambach Jr., died September 23, 2018, age 87. Beloved husband of the late Eva Bachert and the late Maria Bauke Westendorf. Dear friend of Eva Schneider. Father of Monika Rioux (Robert Reeder), Norbert (Judy) Bambach and Mark Bambach. Stepfather to Betty (Jim) Fey, Robert (Roxanne) Westendorf, Linda Westendorf, Susan Westendorf (Drummond) Potter, Steven (Teresa) Westendorf. Grandfather to Nicole (Derek) Baumle, Michelle Rioux (Nathan Phillips), Eric, Lisa, Adam, Liz (Brett) Bowling, Jake, Lily, Logan, Sam. Great-grandfather to Logan, Olivia, Brendon, Benedict, Quinn. Brother to Lea (the late Stefan) Bachert, Paula (the late Jacob) Heine, and the late Walter (Joyce Ross) Bambach. Rudy was born in Srpska Crnja (Serbisch Zerne) in the former Yugoslavia. He survived the bombing of the marshalling yards in Cham, Germany by the RAF in April of 1945 and spent most of the first two postwar years in the concentration camp known as the "Svilara" in Sremska Mitrovica. In Wels, Austria he attended trade school for painters, while living in a DP camp for several years. Rudy came to Cincinnati at the age of 21. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Phalsbourg, France during the Korean conflict. He met his future wife Eva while visiting family in Austria. Upon returning to the US, Rudy established himself as a painting contractor. After the death of his first wife, Rudy married Maria. They were married for 35 years before Maria passed on. Rudy was an active man who loved music, dancing, traveling, and spending time with his large family, especially around his pool. He was a longtime member of the Donauschwaben Society and the Bavarian Beneficial Society. Visitation Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 9:30 A.M. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 810 Neeb Rd., burial to follow at St Joseph Old Cemetery.
