Obituary for Raymond Gordon McCartney III

Raymond Gordon McCartney III "Gordon" "Ray". Gordon was just shy of his 58th birthday which would have been September 23rd. He was born in Redbank, New Jersey/ Gordon was a whimsical character; full of life, generosity, adventure and love for his family. Gordon loved to rock climb and did it very well. His favorite climb was El Capitan in Yosemite. An avid outdoorsman and lover of nature, he loved to fish and cave. He was generous with his gifts, and always took time to get special gifts for his nieces and nephews, wrapping them with duct tape! Gordon’s love for music helped him to learn to play the guitar and played at holiday gatherings often. He asked to have Dr. Hook’s “Cover of the Rolling Stone” kick off his Celebration of Life ceremony. A union electrician and a proud member of IBEW Local 212. His trade allowed him to travel around the country working in different cities and states. He was looking forward to retiring, doing blacksmithing and, restoring his Classic 1979 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle.
Gordon leaves behind his Mother, Joan Loesch, Brothers Mike McCartney & Tim McCartney, Tim’s wife Rita McCartney, Niece Hannah McCartney, Nephew Dylan McCartney, His sister Cheryl Pearce and her husband Steve Pearce, and Nephew Zack Pearce, Niece Courtney Pearce. Gordon passed away peacefully at his home in West Harrison, Indiana on August 6th, after his battle with lung cancer. We will all miss him deeply.
A private ceremony will be held later in August with family and close friends.
