Dorothy “Dot” Calardo

Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth Calardo (nee Lemmink), 89, of Cincinnati, died Sunday, January 28, 2018 at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio after an extended illness.
Born December 2, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Gertrude (nee Herbort) Lemmink. She married Nick Calardo on September 9, 1950.
She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Nick Calardo, six children: John (Janet), Michael (Robyn), Stephen (Martha), Nancy (Patrick) Comer, Suzanne (Carl) Engle, Constance (Rudy) Moreira; 19 grandchildren: Kevin (Sarah) Comer, Julie (Keith) Bode, Doug (fiancé Melanie) Comer, Shannyn (Nic) Petersen, Jessica (Andrew) Gilbert, Anthony (Meade) Calardo, Kelly Mills, Bryan Calardo, Benjamin Mills, Paul (Kathy) Calardo, Nick (fiancé Sarah) Calardo, Sean (Chelsea) Comer, Matthew (Courtney) Calardo, Christopher (Erica) Dinkelacker, Kyle (fiancé Maddie) Comer, Joseph Calardo, Mary Grace Comer, Logan and Emily Moreira; and great grandchildren: Tyler, Rebecca, Annabel, Abygail, Stella, Lilah, Connor, Payton, Violet, Emma, Bailey, Tyberius, Lydia and Kennedy. She is also survived by her siblings and in-laws: Helen Lemmink, Donald (Caroline) Lemmink, Robert (JoAnn) Lemmink, and Joan Spriggs, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Lemmink, sister, Virginia (Harold) Reichel, and brother-in-law Joseph Spriggs.
“Dottie” also leaves her special caregivers, Betty Tepe, Teresa Evans, Maribeth Lind, Asia Dakin, Erin Tepe, Melanie Baldwin, Melissa Auhagen, Olivia Tepe, Carrie Gavin, and many others, along with several dear team members of Hospice of Cincinnati who blessed her and the family with their loving care for the past two years.
Dot was a homemaker, who focused on raising her family and loving her husband. In her free time, she loved to write funny poetry, socialize with her “fun bunch” friends and play with her grandchildren. Her wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, at Neidhard Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave. from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, February 2, at St. Martin of Tours, 3720 St. Martin's Place at 10 a.m. A private graveside service will be held later in the day at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Price Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597, Cinti., Ohio 45263.
