Condolence From: Bob Browning
Condolence: I first met Art in the conversation class at the Tri-State German- American Society. He was such a kind, gentle, and good-natured soul. Art was in charge for many years with making arrangements for the Bavarian band playing at the Oktoberfest. When the band's instruments were delayed in 2001 because of the 9/11 attacks, Art called me to ask if they could borrow instruments from my high school band. Thus began a many years association in which each year Art would call me and make arrangements to pick up the instruments, and each year he invited me to the block party and I could sit in with the band and play trumpet and try to speak Bavarian. After several years the band started playing concerts at the high school I taught at. Each year he would drive the musicians around town and stay for the concerts. His was a generous and giving spirit, and will be deeply missed!
