LaVerne  Essen Fliehman
Fliehman Essen, LaVerne (nee Nusekabel), beloved wife for 24 years of the late Paul Essen and for 35 years of the late Ben Fliehman. Loving mother of David (Carol) Essen, Bob (Pat) Essen, Margie (Bill) Eichstadt, Nancy (Joe) Knab, John (Janet) Essen and Maria (Joe) Leonhardt. Loving stepmother of Bill (Kathy) Fliehman, Mary Ann Fliehman, Jim (Jane) Fliehman, Patty (Mike) Hucke, and the late Bobby and Jerry (Cindy living) Fliehman. Cherished Grandmother of 20 and Great-grandmother of 23. Dear sister of Ruth Holzman, Ed “Bud” Nusekabel, Carol Wesseler, Jim Nusekabel and the late Ginny Miller and Joan Elder. LaVerne was a life long resident of Bridgetown and a faithful parishioner of St. Jude Parish for over 60 years. She attended St. Aloyius Gonzaga school and Mother of Mercy high school. At age 44, she became a widow with 6 children. She met her second husband at St. Jude bingo, a widower with 5 children and they happily spent the rest of their lives together. She was an avid Scrabble player who spelled and won until her final years. She was most proud of raising a large, loving family. She was very involved in each of their lives, even the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family is grateful for the staff at ARTIS and her caregiver from Hospice for their exceptional care and attention. Passed away July 24th, age 89 years. Visitation Monday July 30th from 9:30am with Words of Remembrance at 10:20am and Funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. Jude Church (Bridgetown), Interment at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Church 5924 Bridgetown Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45248
