Waiting for Pete and Betty
When I was a kid living with Mom and Dad on the farm Sundays were often the day for visits from family members. One of our favorite vists came from my Aunt Betty and Uncle Pete and their kids. It was funny how Mom had a 6th sense about when they might come out for a visit. I would wake to see her baking her famous Blackberry Jam Cake with carmel frosting. When I would ask why she'd reply "I just have a feeling Pete and Betty might show up today and this is Pete's favorite."
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss my Mom and it gives me comfort to know she and Uncle Pete are once again united in heaven and enjoying a piece of her Blackberry Jam Cake. Know that those who are still here miss you and remember you always.
