Obituary for Thyra Elizabeth McClain

McClain, Thyra (nee Riede). Beloved wife for 68yrs. to the late Raymond C. McClain. Loving mother of Raymond T. (Joyce) and (late JoAnn), Thomas (Christine) and Gerald (Karen) McClain. Cherished grandma of 12, great grandma of 17 and great great grandma of 9. Passed away Jan 18th at the age of 99. Family will receive friends Thursday Jan 25th from 10am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:30am at Bayley 990 Bayley Dr Cincinnati, Ohio 45233. Sis lived a full life and will be remembered for her positive, very outspoken attitude and never saying no to anyone, especially her family and friends. She enjoyed raising her three sons, but what brought her the greatest joy in life were her grandchildren. Her idea of a vacation was sitting in her rocker drinking coffee keeping a eye on her neighbors. She loved being outdoors and spent countless hours watching her grandchildren. If you ever stopped by Sis’ house you would find a pot of coffee on the counter and great conversation. She was an excellent listener. During the winter months, Sis loved spending time in Florida with her husband, Ray and sister in law, Helen. They would go to different flea markets and yard sales and ride bikes. After her husband, Ray passed away, Rosie, her dog became her constant companion. Anytime Sis was drinking coffee and having a cookie, Rosie was right by her side enjoying a cookie dipped in coffee as well. Thyra “Sis” McClain passed away peacefully, surrounded by her three sons on January 18, 2018 at Bayley Place.
