Obituary for Opal Clare Mees (Smith)

MEES, Opal C. of Westwood, Ohio passed away peacefully Friday, October 27, 2017 at Hospice of Cincinnati Twin Towers. She was 95. Beloved wife of Howard A. Mees, founder of Mees Distributors, Inc., who preceded her in death by 30 years (1987). Beloved mother of 3 children; Howard L. Mees, Lawrence E. Mees and the late Marilyn Mees Underhill. Opal has 9 grandchildren; Carrie Mees, Marilyn Mees Doerr, Kim Underhill Pluess, Howard R. "Howie" Mees, Lance Mees, Melinda Underhill, Beth Mees Meyer, Wray Jean Mees Clifford, Michelle Mees Harper and 15 great grandchildren. Opal was born in Johnetta, KY to the late Carrie Robinson Smith and Dick "Lovett" Smith and had 5 siblings, Elbert Smith, Ray Smith, Betty Baker and the late Bob Smith and Stella Sexton. Opal was a long time member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Westwood. She loved the outdoors, wildlife, gardening, cooking, bowling, golf and traveling (especially to her Florida home). Opal had a great sense of design and fashion that was admired by many. Her laughter and passion for life will be missed. Visitation Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until time of Blessing Service at 12:30 P.M. at the Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave., Westwood. Burial to follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery.
