Obituary for Raymond W. Giblin

Giblin, Raymond W., died July 6, 2017. Age 86. Preceded in death by his loving wife Joan E. (nee Berry), infant son Joseph Patrick and parents William “Pat” and Alma (Evans) Giblin. Loving father of Roger (Becky), Karen and Patrick (Katie) Giblin. Loving grandfather to Brian Fisher, Megan Brammer, Erin Giblin (Ronnie), Brandon Moore, Keegan and Ian Giblin. Great Grandfather of Brandi, Madison, Harrison, Natalie, Mackenzie, and Lola. Loving brother of Rosemary Divo and Patricia (late Raymond) Hennecke. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers William (Rita), Robert (Betty), Larry (Jane), Arthur and Gerry Giblin and sisters Ginny (Paul) and Florence Giblin. Ray was a devoted husband who cared for his wife for many years during her long illness. He was devoted to his family, friends, and Notre Dame Football. He was former President of St. Martin of Tours Athletic Association, as well as the “TRACK” coach for many years. While Ray’s children attended St. Martin of Tours School, he was involved in sports and events hosted by the Parish. He devoted many years to running the stuffed animal booth at the annual summer festival, as well as working bingo. In their younger days Ray and his wife Joan could always be found at Mardi Gras held in the church basement, as well as New Year’s Eve Dances. Ray was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired tool and die maker/machinist at Gold Medal Products. He will be missed by his family, and also his extended family friends, neighbors, co-workers. Visitation Monday from 5-7pm at Neidhard Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave., Westwood. Funeral Mass 10:30am Tuesday at St. Martin of Tours Church, Cheviot. Burial with military honors to follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery.
