Obituary for Leonard Minges

Leonard  Minges
Minges, Leonard passed away peacefully on Feb. 18, 2017, at his home of 64 years surrounded by his loving family. Leonard was born on Oct. 10, 1932 to Walter and Catherine (Wurtzler) Minges. After graduating from Harrison High School, he married his beloved Wilma Bybee and they were married over 50 years. They were blessed with four children Kathy (Dick) Nocks, Dianna (Kevin) Riley, Lenny Minges, and Gary (Stacey) Minges. Leonard was a farmer all of his life. Each of his children and grandchildren remember him telling them “Do something you love for a living and you will never work a day in your life.” Leonard did love the farm. When not farming, he could be found hunting, fishing or at a good card party. His number one love was his family. Sunday dinners with his family were the highlight of his week. He is also survived by his brother Allen (Gayle) Minges and sister in law Mildred Minges he was a beloved Papaw to Jody (Ryan) Robinson, Jami ( Bill) Woy, Tom (Debbie) Riley, Kelly (Collin) Thatcher, Katie (Tyler) Baker , Kelsey (Steve) Kalgreen, Chance and Clark Minges. He was a loving Great Papaw to Will and Parker Woy, Riley and Ruby Robinson, Ruger and Eli Riley, Brody, Estelle and Grant Thatcher, Camden Baker and Lucas and Samuel Kalgreen. Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Wilma, his cherished son Lenny, his parents Walter and Catherine Minges and brothers Frank, Leo, Walter (Janet) and Alford Minges. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm at Minges Funeral Home 10385 New Haven Rd., Harrison Ohio. Funeral Mass Friday 11am at St. John the Baptist Church, Harrison followed by burial in the church cemetery. Donations may be made at the funeral home to either St. John the Baptist Church or to One Way Farm Children’s Home.
